BBC2 held a preview screening for Wolf Hall on December 10 at SoHo’s Ham Yard Hotel, followed by a Q&A with the cast — including Mark Rylance, Damian Lewis, and Claire Foy — and the director Peter Kosminsky.
Here is a photo tweeted by Rajiv Nathwani, social media manager of BBC1 and BBC2, from the Q&A. Thank you for sharing!
David Stephenson, Sunday Express TV Editor, tweeted from the event: “Great to see @lewis_damian staying to chat with everyone after #Wolfhall. His head to head with #markrylance in series will be fascinating.”
Oh, YES!
BIG THANKS go to David Stephenson, who has uploaded the Q&A on YouTube earlier today so that we, the mortals, who were not at the preview screening, can at least hear it! ENJOY!
If you don’t have time for a 40 min Q&A then, let me, at least, give you my favorite bit (exactly at 36:27)
Peter Kosminsky: “It seemed to me that number one essential for casting HenryVIII was charisma. It was absolutely clear to me from the reading I did and from what Hilary said… this was an extraordinary, charismatic man. So, we approached a number of very charismatic actors, and unfortunately none of them were available.” [laughters]
Lewis: “That will be on my tombstone. Best available.”
I simply LOVE the hilarious tease! And, I cannot wait for the first rendezvous with this, in Peter Kosminky’s words, “original Renaissance man.” 🙂
