USA Production News reports that Showtime drama pilot Billions shoot is starting today in New York ! So, Bobby “Axe” Axelrod is coming to life! I really hope we can get some daily updates during filming!
So, what do we know so far?
Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti are headlining Billions. Damian Lewis takes on the role of Bobby “Axe Axelrod — “a brilliant, ambitious hedge-fund king” and Paul Giamatti is Chuck Rhoades, “a hard-charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney.”
If this is not some acting heaven, what is? 🙂
Brian Koppelman, David Levien and New York Times’ columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin are writing the script and executive producing, and Neil Burger is directing the pilot .
The rest of the cast is equally brilliant.
First, Maggie Siff (Sons of Anarchy, Mad Men) joined the cast.
From Hollywood Reporter: “Maggie Siff plays Wendy Rhoades, Chuck’s wife. After graduating at the top of her medical school class and training as a psychiatrist, she is now a highly in demand performance coach who works with some of the most powerful and influential figures in the world of high finance.
Then, to my big excitement, David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad) came on board! I loved Costabile as Gale Goetticher in Breaking Bad!
Deadline Hollywood reports that David Costabile (Suits, Breaking Bad), will play Mike “Wags” Wagner, Chief Operating Officer for the hedge run by Bobby and is his right hand man.”
Ha ha I love the fact that Costabile, who used to help Walter White with the Blue, will now assist Bobby Axelrod with the Green 🙂
Broadwayworld.com reported early January that Tony nominee Condola Rashad, who appeared in Romeo & Juliet last year on Broadway, has been cast as Kate described as “a smart, ambitious young professional who is working at the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
Finally, last Friday, another Tony nominee Melissa Errico came on board. Broadwayworld.com reports that “Errico will play the role of June, a widow with a connection to the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod.”
There have also been casting calls for 10-12 year old kids that actually play football, a Caucasian male with a FDNY dress uniform and a search for oceanfront homes in Hampton. Well, where else? 🙂
Fingers crossed that Billions goes to series, and we have a weekly Damian Lewis hour in our living rooms again 🙂
