Damian Lewis Pretty in Pink

Today is National Pink Shirt Day (last Wednesday of February). A national movement to fight bullying, it started with two high school students in Canada buying 75 pink shirts and encouraging their classmates to wear them in solidarity with a new student at their school who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. So we encourage everyone to wear pink shirts today as a stand against bullying, promoting kindness and inclusivity, and we give you our boy who looks very pretty in pink!

Well, when you see your favorite actor in a three-piece pink suit, you sit down and write about the man and the color.

Now, here is a simple question for you: What comes to your mind first when you think about the color pink? A little girl dressed in princess attire? Pink-wrapped chocolate on Valentine’s Day?  Cherry  blossoms or pink roses maybe if  you are into flowers or radishes and rhubarbs if you are a foodie. Continue reading “Damian Lewis Pretty in Pink”

Today we are taking you back to December 2014 to re-visit Damian when he was Kirsty Young’s Castaway on BBC Radio 4 Desert Island Discs (DID).

Here’s the drill if you are not familiar with the program: The castaway comes having done his homework; with eight pieces of music — one of which he will choose as his favorite — plus a book and a luxury item that he will take to his island with him. You hear the music during the program accompanied with a story from the castaway about why he has chosen this particular piece. We focus on Damian’s selections today on the blog, and you can listen the entire Damian Lewis DID here and download it to listen on the go, too!

Elvis Presley would have been 90 today. We thought it would be a lot of FUN to celebrate the King’s birthday here and give Elvis a cool birthday present on behalf of a big fan!

That fan is Damian Lewis 😀

Damian was Kirsty Young’s Castaway on Desert Island Discs back in November 2014:

“Up until I was about the age of 18, I thought, I was Elvis, returned, and spent a lot of my time putting shaving foam, oddly, through my hair and relentlessly coiffing my quiff, and any opportunity getting into my skinny pair of black jeans and my winklepickers and my paisley shirt from Kensington market.”

You can hear the entire podcast here and Elvis bit is at 04:34. Continue reading “Happy Birthday, Elvis Presley!”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis’ ‘Blues and Swing Special’ on Jazz FM

My husband and I started 2023 listening to the 2-hour “Damian Lewis Blues and Swing Special” on Jazz FM. And after 2 delicious hours of music, I put together a Spotify playlist for the fans who were not able to hear the program because of annoying zone restrictions. And this post has all the songs Damian played in the program but also what he talked about when he talked about the music he loved! So… ENJOY! From Lockdown to Mission Creep: Damian Lewis’ Music Journey – Part II

“I wanted the album to give a sense of a journey to this point, from busking ‘til now. I suddenly had a lot to say. People will judge if it’s any good or not, but for me, it felt entirely natural.” – Damian Lewis

You can read Part I here. We had a cliffhanger at the end of Part I… Steve Abbott introduced Damian to Giacomo Smith, one of the best  jazz musicians working  in London today…

Then Jay Rayner of  Out to Lunch podcast let the world know about Damian performing Dr. John’s “Such a Night” with Giacomo and his band Kansas Smittys – and asked Damian if the experience was as fun as it looked… Continue reading “From Lockdown to Mission Creep: Damian Lewis’ Music Journey – Part II”
