Damian Lewis Arrives with Her First “Binge”: Joyce’s Story

Hello all! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

We have made lovely friendships over the almost two and a half years we have been live. We “meet” some friends online only while we have the pleasure of meeting some others in person.

June 23, 2016. I arrived promptly at 5pm at Directors Guild Theatre to make sure I have a good seat for Damian Lewis at Times Talks scheduled at 7pm. A woman, who seemed pretty organized with a pillow for herself to sit on, arrived a few minutes later. And Paige, whom I had met earlier on Facebook, arrived a few minutes after her. And it took only a few extra minutes for us to click and then we talked non-stop until the event and, by the way, got the best seats in the house, too! Joyce, the lovely woman with the pillow, is here today to share her fan story with us. Joyce, you do not know how happy I am to have known you and HUGE thanks for your lovely contribution to our Fan Stories Series. Cheers!

How That Brief Cut to Brody’s Expression Did It: Nancy’s Story

Hello, everyone! Welcome to a new Fan Story Tuesday!

We have said time and again this blog has been a very rewarding experience and one major reward has been the beautiful friendships we have built over the almost two and a half years that we have been live. And Nancy is no exception. She and I “met” on Twitter and clicked almost immediately. And even though we “met” through our admiration for our favorite guy, an introduction to Nancy requires a mention of another guy whom you all probably know and admire, too: Roger Federer. Now, Nancy is a big Damian Lewis fan and you will truly love her story. Having said that she is first and foremost a Roger Federer fan. She does not only follow Roger’s career very closely but has also been extremely lucky to see some of his most important championships! And, yes, Nancy has a lovely big smile but I do not know if she ever smiled bigger than in this picture.

Nancy, I cannot tell you how lucky I feel to have met you and we cannot thank you enough for sharing your fan story with us. Cheers! Continue reading “How That Brief Cut to Brody’s Expression Did It: Nancy’s Story”

Finding “Ginger Prince” in Band of
Brothers: Connie’s Story

Hello, everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a new Fan Story!

Connie, a long-time Damian fan, certainly gets the well-deserved credit in adding “Ginger Prince” to our vocabulary and never ceases to amaze me with her attention to detail, be it the way Damian combs his hair, or a missing button on his coat 😀 She is amazing!

Ok I really need to tell this story!

It starts with a comment Connie makes about a picture we post from an interview Damian has recently given to CBS Sunday News.

“I see the man still has that yellow leather coat. He has been wearing it for ages (good color for him) and I’ve noticed of late it has all its buttons. For some time years ago there was one missing.”

I had no idea! 😀 But then I find this picture from about 12 years ago. Check out Damian’s second button from the top. Voila! Continue reading “Finding “Ginger Prince” in Band of

What were you doing in 1995? Cynthia’s Story

Hello all! Damianista here. Welcome to Fan Story Tuesday!

Those of you from Michigan may know Cynthia from her program Stateside on Michigan Radio, part of the NPR digital network. Cynthia has had work experience in radio and TV for more than 35 years.  She has been a popular radio host, a TV news anchor, producer and a medical and consumer reporter. She has won a number of awards for her writing and reporting — including an Emmy! And, in addition to all this, Cynthia is a Damian Lewis fan. Big thanks go to her for being one of the first to respond to our call for fan stories and sharing this very special story.

Without further ado: What were YOU doing in 1995? This is Cynthia’s story.

Damian Lewis on Fame and Fans

I didn’t know people could get that famous. Just briefly, I felt like Justin Bieber for a second. – Damian Lewis

source: Times Talks
source: Times Talks

Damian answers Cara Buckley’s question at Times Talks about whether he misses Homeland which was “obviously a huge pivot” in his career: “I have to say I felt pretty famous after Band of Brothers. I was like ‘well, I am doing alright, this is good, people stop me on the street, pat me on the back, say ‘I love your work Damian’ or they go ‘thank you for winning the second world war, sir!’… you know… as I peel off my tights doing Shakespeare somewhere on stage: ‘thank you, this is awkward…’ so reminding people that I am just an actor… But Homeland… You’re right… I didn’t know people could get that famous. Just briefly, I felt like Justin Bieber for a second… It was a phenemenon, you’re right, it was a phenomenon.”

This little dialogue inspires me to think of the relationship between the actor and his fans! We, as fans, are constantly talking about Damian. We post about him, tweet about him, and some of us even blog about him 🙂 We are pretty much set on what we think about Damian… but what does Damian think about fame and his fans?
