Falling Star Part Three: The Nameless Star Chapter One

“She has a million names, and the star has none.” –  Jacob Clifton

You’re Carrie Mathison, you’ve been reunited with the man you’ve longed for, you’ve feared for, you’ve risked body and mind for. He has turned away. What do you do?  You wipe away the tears, you go to work.

She’s agreed to Saul’s audacious plan for infiltrating Brody into Iran with the goal of targeted assassination and with Brody as the assassin. The window of opportunity is narrow, the assassin unwilling.

“When do you need him ready by?”

It’s sixteen days till Senator Lockhart assumes Saul’s job as Director of CIA. He’d never agree to this wild plan. Saul fills her in on the time in Caracas and Carrie decides ..

Squeezed between two special operatives in the back of Carrie’s car, Brody rides, stone-faced to an unknown destination. Outside of a small motel, they wait, they watch. A maid appears pushing her supply cart. Her earbuds firmly in place. Continue reading “Falling Star Part Three: The Nameless Star Chapter One”

Falling Star, Part One: Into The Shadows

I left Carrie and Brody suspended in a golden light near the end of episode 11 in season 2 but I think maybe Brody will never leave me be. So will you go with me into the shadows?

Nazir is dead. Brody has left his family. He and Carrie are together in peace that  “is a rare thing for me”. They are back at the cabin; the place they first discovered that peace with each other. This time it’s different: “no secrets”. They have a fascinating conversation about that. Scarier and easier. Carrie says “That should be a good thing, right?” Well, yes it would seem it should but with these two people that’s a reasonable question. The ambiguity and tenderness with which they approach each other is a touchstone of their relationship. They are finding their way moment by moment. These two actors show us characters we’ve only seen in flashes: vulnerable, amazed. It’s beautiful. Continue reading “Falling Star, Part One: Into The Shadows”

48 Reasons to Love Damian Lewis

Welcome to Damian’s Birthday Party!

Damian is my fellow Aquarian. And if you believe in horoscopes — I cannot say I do but I enjoy reading them — then 2019 will be a GOOD year for us 😀 But, honestly, when it comes to Damian’s year, we don’t really need to read the horoscope, the tea leaves, or having grown up in Turkey, the coffee cup for him 🙂

Firstly, we are looking forward to the premiere of Billions Season 4 on Showtime March 17 at 9pm ET/PT! The series has already become the premium network’s second biggest show ever after Homeland and guess what — there is only one actor that has played in Showtime’s two biggest shows! 😀 And then the two films Damian has completed in 2018, namely Run This Town and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are coming to a theater near us this year… So we can only imagine the possibilities 2019 may bring…

Happy Birthday, Damian! You make 48 look so damn good and so we have decided to come up with that many reasons to love you! ENJOY!

TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2018: The Britannia Award

Always the Ham

A significant top moment in 2018 for Damian would be receiving an award for his artistry. I do not shy away in saying he is the most talented actor of our generation and it seems BAFTA LA agreed. Damian received the well-deserved and long overdue BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Award for Excellence in Television on October 26, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolades, recognizing both outstanding British talent and exceptional international artistry through an actor’s body of work. It’s no secret around here that Damian is talented and exceptional – for more than a decade and a half he has enticed and intrigued audiences with highly complex, compromised, flawed characters he has brought to life on television, from steadfast Dick Winters, constipated Soames Forsyte, and quirky Charlie Crews to damaged Nicholas Brody, radical Henry VIII and currently, the ruthless Bobby Axelrod.

But where did it all begin?
