Brody Countdown 9

Falling Star Part Three: The Nameless Star Chapter One

“She has a million names, and the star has none.” –  Jacob Clifton

You’re Carrie Mathison, you’ve been reunited with the man you’ve longed for, you’ve feared for, you’ve risked body and mind for. He has turned away. What do you do?  You wipe away the tears, you go to work.

She’s agreed to Saul’s audacious plan for infiltrating Brody into Iran with the goal of targeted assassination and with Brody as the assassin. The window of opportunity is narrow, the assassin unwilling.

“When do you need him ready by?”

It’s sixteen days till Senator Lockhart assumes Saul’s job as Director of CIA. He’d never agree to this wild plan. Saul fills her in on the time in Caracas and Carrie decides ..

Squeezed between two special operatives in the back of Carrie’s car, Brody rides, stone-faced to an unknown destination. Outside of a small motel, they wait, they watch. A maid appears pushing her supply cart. Her earbuds firmly in place. Continue reading “Brody Countdown 9”

Brody Countdown 10

Homeland. The show that inspired Damianista to create this website approaches it’s eighth and final season. Nicholas Brody, the full dimensional character brought to life by Damian Lewis became the object of passion for her and a couple of cohorts, JaniaJania and me, NotLinda. We’ve all three contributed many pages of text on this website analyzing, describing, and creating scenarios for this beloved man. As a tribute to this decisive moment in our lives I’m putting together, from the library of our posts, a Brody countdown to the final season’s premiere on February 9th, 2020. I think I speak for all of us when I say without Damian Lewis there may have been no Homeland.

Chapter 8 – Final

Rifling through some papers in Yevgeny Gromov’s lair revealed the list of Russian names Brody had heard earlier in the hub.

“Hey, Carrie, what do you think this is about? Any of these names look familiar to you? I heard them earlier when I first saw Gromov,” Brody asked. “And I heard them mention Saul too.”

“Saul? Yevgeny was talking about Saul?” Carrie momentarily lapsed into the confusion she was swimming in earlier. “This is a list of some of the most nefarious Russian operatives the NSA has in custody.” Her face opened up in realization. “It’s a prisoner exchange list. Saul somehow got the NSA to give up these guys in exchange for me.”

“It took him long enough,” Brody said. “What’d you say? You’ve been here 8 months?”

“Brody, you know this shit takes a lot longer in real life than it does in the movies.”

Chapter 7

The years Brody had spent in this place seemed like seconds compared to the endless anticipation of finally seeing Carrie for real and getting to talk to her. Time and space: Tiny monosyllabic grunts of words, meaningless when it came to affairs of the heart. He had to get to her today.

This time, Alex accompanied Brody to Yevgeny’s den. Leiming did his part in distracting the guards with a technical issue he cleverly inserted into the security system. It was time.

As they approached the den, they saw that Yevgeny was again alone with Carrie. No one was dancing this time, though. Carrie, again, looked stricken and confused. Yevgeny sat across from her, his eyes laser focused on her face, talking to her softly.

Brody crouched around a corner while Alex knocked on the door.

Yevgeny looked around for his guards as he opened to door. “How did you get in here?” Continue reading “Another Turn: Homeland Fanfic, Chapter 7”

Chapter 6

“Come on guys, I couldn’t sleep. I was just getting some fresh air.” Two security guards accompanied Brody back to his dorm.  “The night is the time to do it, right? The air smells less like it’s loaded with chemicals then. Didn’t think it’d set off an alarm.”

Luckily, Brody had heard the alarm and was already on the way back to his room when the security guards found him. “Are we not allowed to leave our bunkers after dark? In all the years I’ve been here, no one told me.”

“It’s for your own safety. If you’re having trouble sleeping, let your supervisor know and he can get a doctor to give you something.” Continue reading “Another Turn: Homeland Fanfic, Chapter 6”
