I don’t know about Damian Lewis, but I am a bit sick and tired of reading on social media and elsewhere about people being suspicious about the “skinny” Henry VIII on Wolf Hall 🙂
“Henry VIII is a monster, but he’s our monster.
We’re perversely proud of Henry.”
Hilary Mantel
Tell me… what are the odds your favorite actor plays your favorite historical monster in a mini-series based on your favorite book? I know 🙂 And, not just that, but the mini-series premieres on BBC2 on January 21 — literally as my birthday gift! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I have had this amazing journey with Wolf Hall. It started on a sunny and cold Saturday afternoon in New York City at the Belasco Theater last January and is now coming full circle with our first rendezvous with Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII. Continue reading “My year-long Wolf Hall Journey”
“Damian Lewis is one of those actors who has been quietly putting himself about for a number of years and finally reached big-time recognition with his portrayal of Nicholas Brody in the television series Homeland.
But 2014 became a landmark year for the broody redhead after he was awarded the highly prestigious Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (better known as Prince William and his wife Kate). Although he claimed to be “stupefied” by the award, it is sure to kick his career into an even higher gear next year.”
But I cannot help commenting on Woody Allen at #2! How come? I mean, some of his films are my all-time favorites, but honestly, I have never thought about Woody as a hot ginger 🙂
Anyway, on this very important international day, we should have the utmost responsibility to show love and attention to our favorite gingers… and we all know what to do 🙂
Welcome to the first “U say Friday, I say Free-day” on Fan Fun with Damian Lewis! I plan to write my random thoughts about random things on Fridays, including but not limited to books, movies, family, politics, lifestyle, fashion, culture, sports, food, travel, music, memories, in short, anything you can think about life… and always with a twist about Damian Lewis.
My first Free Friday piece is about the very theme of the day.
Elvis Presley would have been 80 today. I thought it would be a lot of FUN to celebrate the King’s birthday here and give Elvis a cool birthday present from one of his big fans!
That fan is Damian Lewis 🙂
Damian was Kirsty Young’s Castaway on Desert Island Discs back in November: “Up until I was about the age of 18, I thought, I was Elvis, returned, and spent a lot of my time putting shaving foam, oddly, through my hair and relentlessly coiffing my quiff, and any opportunity getting into my skinny pair of black jeans and my winklepickers and my paisley shirt from Kensington market, and this is Elvis.” (You can hear the entire podcast here and Elvis bit is at 04:34).
