Happy 11th Anniversary, Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory!

I have been married for quite some time (22 years in two days!) but my husband and I don’t care much about our marriage anniversary. We somehow feel it is just the day we “legally” became a couple and what we do instead is to celebrate the day we started dating 😀 And I obviously do not know if Damian and Helen are having a big celebration for their anniversary, but one thing I know is that even if they are not, an entire nation is celebrating with fireworks today on their behalf 😀

Metropolitan Museum of Art is, for me, the CROWN JEWEL of all art museums in the United States. It has an amazing collection of art from all different periods and different places in the world that one of my favorite pastimes is to go to the MET and just get lost and indulge myself in the incredible art for the whole day.

We are visiting one of the curatorial departments in the museum,  the MET Costume Institute today for our Throwback! MET Costume Institute holds a very high-brow annual Gala Benefit every year. And in honor of their 2018 Gala next week, I propose to travel back to May 2013 when a certain someone stopped by the museum for the event! Throwback Thursday to London, The Goat, and Meeting Damian Lewis

Has it been a year? How can it be if I still have my dog-eared Rick Steves’ London on my end table? Sure, it’s buried beneath a precipitous “To Read” pile, but, still, it feels like I just unpacked it. The thing about travel is that it becomes a part of you in ways other human experience can’t. In two rich weeks, walking that town, its lovely byways and bridges, at all hours of the day and night, I felt like a Londoner. So looking forward to going back at the first opportunity. It’s Damian’s home turf and that’s an attraction, sure. But, more than that, London, to me, feels like a calmer, quieter version of New York, more amenable to those of us not so tough anymore. A place full of just as many rich experiences, but that doesn’t feel like it would kill you if you stayed too long.

Exactly a year ago, London is where we saw Damian on stage in The Goat. Let’s take a trip back, shall we? Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to London, The Goat, and Meeting Damian Lewis”

“I always pursued my fantasies. I was never interested in fantasies remaining fantasies. They were always so formed in my imagination that I couldn’t not chase them.” – Damian Lewis

Finding Damian Lewis in The Love Book: Celian’s Story

Hello all! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

We have found out, thanks to the fantastic stories you have shared with us, that while many “discovered” Damian through his iconic roles like Major Dick Winters in Band of Brothers or Nicholas Brody in Homeland, the others found him through  a news quiz show,  an interview, or his better half. This week’s story comes from Celian who definitely falls in the latter category.

Celian was first intrigued by Damian thanks to Allie Esiri’s wonderful The Love Book project, a brilliant collection of classic and contemporary love poems that vary from Shakespeare to E.E. Cummings to Maya Angelou coming together in a book as well as in an app. And she could not have sent her story at a better time since this is a perfect story for Valentine’s Day. Massive thanks go to Celian for sharing her fabulous story with us. Cheers!
