This Just In! Damian Lewis Joins the Cast of Ocean’s Eight

UPDATE: Even though Damian was confirmed on 12/06/2016 to be a part of Ocean’s Eight, he withdrew from the project probably due to schedule conflicts. Richard Armitage took over the role Damian was reported to play in the movie.

We reported more than a month ago about Damian Lewis being spotted on Ocean’s Eight movie set. We got no word about Damian being in the movie previously and so we were surprised to find out he was on the set. Well, to be honest, my first thought was that he could be visiting one of the cast members, because I never thought he would be in the movie. Damian has been filming Billions Season 2 in NYC and I don’t think an actor can manage to shoot a TV show and a movie simultaneously… well, unless he has a time-turner (Harry Potter, anyone?) 😀

Damian Lewis on Ocean’s Eight Set: A Cameo Appearance or What?

Ocean’s Eight, a movie with an all-female cast including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson (rumored) — well, do I need to say more? this is a totally kick-ass bunch — is now being filmed in New York. The movie, in director Gary Ross‘ words, is an “extension and a continuation” of Ocean’s Trilogy and I would say it is likely to make every “highly anticipated movies of the year” list for 2018. Damian Lewis, An Englishman in New York, 2016 Edition

You know the worst thing about being a hardcore fan is the dry spells, these times when the object of your fandom is hard at work, filming, and no where to be seen. You’ve already watched most of his entire oeuvre, some of it many times over. And there is nothing to fill the void. Particularly egregious for such a time to come as we are also mired in the sludge of arguably the worst election of recent history, when the worst possible words and images are assaulting us from all our screens on a daily basis. Wherefore humanity? Wherefore truth and beauty? Wherefore art? And alas, wherefore Damian?

But, you know the best thing about such times is that we have you, dear fans, posting your sightings and run-ins. And we have dear Damian himself graciously posing for pics with you, his dear fans. So we bring you what has become an annual post: Our Englishman in New York.

An Exclusive FAN FUN Interview with Damian Lewis

Because we just saw a very bright star, Damian Lewis, in a very smart conversation with NY Times Culture reporter and new Carpetbagger Cara Buckley at Directors Guild Theater in New York City.
