Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at The Tabernacle London

“Jazz is a broad church. That’s why we chose a Tabernacle. Place of residence. Place of meeting. Tent of congregation. Tent of meeting.”

-Damian Lewis

Well, ladies and gentlemen, exactly two years ago, I had a 72-hour lightning trip to London for a special weekend with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at The Tabernacle London in Notting Hill with the one and only Damian Lewis. It was such a night with our Ginger Elvis rocking on the stage and off – he made time for everyone, VIPs and fans alike, after the gig.So please come join me in the beautiful and inspiring  music hall that is The Tabernacle London, and live or re-live (if you were lucky  enough to be there) every single detail from that glorious evening… And don’t get surprised that I am talking about A Spy Among Friends and The Radleys as Damian’s upcoming projects. They were upcoming projects two years ago and I haven’t changed a word in my original write-up .

Oops, I Did It Again: Damian Lewis at Boisdale of Canary Wharf

“A Damian Lewis live show contains fun. Rock’n’Roll. Good music. And an amazing band that I play with.” — Damian Lewis at Latitude Festival Press Day

Yes, sir! All those coupled with a truly engaged and energetic crowd at Boisdale of Canary Wharf made my 48 hour lightning trip to London more than worth it! And I am ready to tell all about it!

Firstly, I thank my brilliant friend Patrick (who happens to be the drummer Will’s dad) for convincing me to go! Believe it or not, I was on the fence since we are now used to going three or four gigs at a time on tours. The Boisdale gig is a one off and it is of course wonderful if you live in London, or somewhere in Europe (short and cheap flights) but you need to factor in a lot in your decision if you fly from the US like me. The good news is that I could get my ticket with miles and Patrick gets a table for us. I tell my friends that I’m going and when they check they find out that the venue does not sell single tickets. And here is my Whatsapp exchange with Patrick when I share this information with him! Continue reading “Oops, I Did It Again: Damian Lewis at Boisdale of Canary Wharf”

TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2023: A Magical Evening at Hoxton Hall

I had a 48-hour lightning trip to London for fun with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at Hoxton Hall in East End with the one and only Damian Lewis and his fabulous band. And when I asked my blog mate Gingersnap before my trip that whether she thought I was crazy because I am flying to London for 48 hours, I got this response.

“You’re not crazy. But you have a new name. Groupie!”

Seriously, how many times do you need to travel to see a musician in action to qualify as a groupie? 🙂

It was such a magical night and I am ready to tell you all about how our Ginger Elvis has ruled on stage and off – he has made time for everyone, his guests and his fans, after the gig. He had pictures taken, gave autographs as well as bear hugs.

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis in Pink

Well, thanks to Barbie, we are all covered in pink these days. But the thing is that our boy was pretty in pink way before it was THE color! 🙂

Well, when you see your favorite actor in a three-piece pink suit, you sit down and write about the man and the color.

Now, here is a simple question for you: What comes to your mind first when you think about the color pink? A little girl dressed in princess attire? Pink-wrapped chocolate on Valentine’s Day?  Cherry  blossoms or pink roses maybe if  you are into flowers or radishes and rhubarbs if you are a foodie. Damian + Alison: Forces of Nature Collide (rated PG-13)

Photo Cred: Alison Mosshart

When I first heard Damian’s song Down on the Bowery (released April 13, 2023), it didn’t take long to figure out the song was about Alison and the history of their recurrent stays at The Bowery Hotel located at 333 The Bowery in New York City’s lower East Side. But what intrigued me more were certain lyrics that made my ears instantly perk up. Specifically, “blood on the walls in a siren city, your face all cut up but you looked so pretty.” What in the world could that be about, I wondered. I even tweeted to Damian about it back in April, 2023:
