Damian Lewis: “I am going to have a
summer.” And, he DID!

Happy Labor Day! It means this is the last chance for most of us to make that last trip before the summer ends… It also means we will have our Englishman back in New York shortly for Billions Season 3 shoot. It goes without saying we will follow the shoot very closely and think and talk about our hopes, wishes and fantasies about Season 3 in the coming weeks and months.

But, today, we will talk about Damian’s summer, the first summer he has fully enjoyed in the last six years. There were obviously weekend escapes especially during Homeland shoot in North Carolina which Helen makes sound wonderful in an interview with Evening Standard…

“We went to the Appalachian Mountains, skinny-dipping in the white waters, camping…”

…but, still, Damian has constantly worked all summer since he started shooting Homeland in spring 2011. So, when asked by a fan at The Goat stage door back in May about what he would be doing between The Goat and Billions, he responded promptly:

“I am going to have a summer.”

POP the Balloons for Sohana Research Fund and RAISE Awareness for EB!

Damian Lewis answers the Vanity Fair Proust Questionnaire.

Vanity Fair: “Which living person do you most admire?”

Damian Lewis: “Sohana Collins. A little girl I know who’s extremely brave.

Do you want to HELP the bravest girl Damian has ever known?

Sohana Collins, who gives her name to Sohana Research Fund, is a teenager who was born with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB or EB) which means she lacks the protein that holds her skin together. Kids with EB have extremely fragile skin that they are sometimes called “butterfly children.” Lots of activities we take for granted as easy routines in our daily lives are a struggle for them. Can you imagine a day where your dressing up takes up to two hours and eating and drinking cause blisters in your mouth and throat? These kids have to deal with this kind of pain every single day. A Ginger Obsession Called Damian Lewis: Sonia’s Story

Hello everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

This week’s story comes from Sonia, a lovely fan from the UK who is as much a “dark horse” as me. Now, in case you don’t know what this means… Here is Damian providing an explanation at Times Talks London back in 2014 😀

Well, my dear Sonia, Damian may not go out with us after all but even THAT cannot stop us from loving the unlovable Soames Forsyte! So, without further ado, here is Sonia telling her fan story with a great sense of humor! Big thanks go to her for sharing her story with us. ENJOY! “Is she the tutor?” or How I became a Fan of Damian Lewis, The Man: Lewisto’s Story

Hi everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

Most of you know Lewisto, my husband and partner-in-crime, who occasionally writes for Fan Fun. Today is Lewisto’s birthday and I thought it would be fun to share his fan story on this special day. Some of you may have read this story because we originally published it two years ago. However, since it is the story of how Lewisto became a Damian Lewis fan it truly belongs in this Fan Story Series.

You will notice that while it is an extremely funny story centered around Damian, Lewisto’s story is quite personal and it says as much about the two of us as about Damian. I do not intend to give any spoilers but if you think of Carrie and Brody as the best cat and mouse you have ever seen… well, you ain’t seen nothing yet 😀

ENJOY!

Following the Footsteps of our Resident Londoner

Gotta love it when a passing thought from one post leads to an entire new fully-fleshed-out post. I had remarked, during my two-week tour in London, I was reminded often of places I’d seen Damian in images and film. In particular, when I was walking from Shakespeare’s Globe west towards Blackfriars Bridge along the Thames Path I looked down to the river and saw the moss covered walls where Damian and Helen leaned and loafed for a photoshoot, as well as the pier under which Hector made a phone call in Our Kind of Traitor.

That bit of Proustian mind-wandering lead Damianista to the thought, “Hey, why not do a post where we follow along in Damian’s footsteps throughout London?” “Isn’t that a bit stalkery?” I worried. “Nah,” we both concluded. Happily, Damian knows we are the most harmless variety of stalkers he could ever have. So, here it is, a catalog of all the places and sites where we “saw” Damian, characters he’s played, and stories he’s been a part of in his beloved home town.
