I find it beyond impressive when families turn their tragic losses into good for many others in memory of the loved ones they lost. Ride4Hugo, a campaign Damian’s family run in memory of Hugo Yaxley, Damian and Helen’s nephew, who tragically died in a car accident in November 2020, and also in memory of Helen, who passed away only 5 months after Hugo’s accident, is an extraordinary effort aimed to do good for so many people.
Hugo, at his young age, was a fierce advocate of facing up to mental health issues and changing the stigma attached to it. And Ride4Hugo was set to raise funds and awareness for four great charities that were close to both his and Helen’s heart. Grasshopper films giving Lodge Kerrigan’s beautiful movie Keane a 4K restoration and bringing it back to life on big screen across the US is a highlight on its own. And when the 4K restored Keane screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center is coupled with the director and the actor Damian Lewis intoducing the film together, watching it with the audience and doing a lively Q&A after the screening makes it a top moment! And I feel very privileged to have shared that special evening – full house at Francesca Beale Theater – with Mr. Kerrigan, Damian and my fellow independent movie fans. The evening felt like a collective celebration of independent cinema.
Although we already knew that Damian was making music with the wonderful jazz band Kansas Smitty’s and that there was talk about making an album, Damian’s return to stage with a guitar in his hands has been the most exciting and happy surprise of the year! I was extremely lucky to be at Damian’s first ever gig at Omeara London where our ‘Ginger Elvis’ ruled the stage with his originals as well as some great covers. And here is every single detail I remember from that special evening! ENJOY!

Well, it is THAT time of the year again! We have “Best of 2022” lists wherever we look: Best Books of 2022, Best Movies of 2022, Best Music of 2022 and so on… And, it is our utmost pleasure to jump on the “Best of” wagon with our TOP Damian Lewis Moments of 2022! As we take the last days of the year to revisit the year Damian has had personally and professionally, we very much hope to put a smile on your face.
We don’t intend to rank the top moments as many “Best of” lists do. We pick the moments in which, we believe, Damian shines as a brilliant actor, a wonderful storyteller, a true gentleman, a serious athlete or just a guy who knows to have a good time and bring them to you.
The moment with which we kick off this year’s top moments series is one that we are very proud of. Damian Lewis was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the late Queen Elizabeth’s annual birthday honours. This very well-deserved honor comes for Damian’s services to drama and to charity especially for initiating Feed NHS, the campaign Damian ran with Helen and raised more than 1 million pounds to provide food for NHS workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
