Well, How Did I Get Here? Lady Trader’s Fan Story

And you may ask yourself, well
How did I get here? – Talking Heads

Damianista often visits New York, and when she does, we try and get together to chat and catch up. On one of her Spring visits, on a subway ride home, she asked me how I became a fan of Damian Lewis. I told her the story and her reaction was: “You should post that on the blog!” When I finally wrote up my story, Damianista came up with the brilliant idea of getting stories of how others became fans of Damian Lewis and posting them on the blog. How interesting it would be to read everyone’s stories and to see just how we all became a happy, FUN community! Damianista sent the word out, and the response was amazing!

We will be publishing fan stories right here every Tuesday. Damianista was gracious enough to let my story be the first one to get us rolling, so here it is! Continue reading “Well, How Did I Get Here? Lady Trader’s Fan Story”

Bobby Axelrod: The Man With No Heart?

Hello, all! Hope 2017 is treating you all well. I’ve managed to make it about half way through the brutal winter here in the arctic tundra known as Minnesota. It won’t be that long until warm weather will return!

GET IT IT’S BECAUSE ITS LIKE HOTH

Aside from counting the days until Spring, I know that we are all waiting, with baited breath, for the season two premiere of Billions! February 19th can’t get here fast enough. I’ve been keeping myself busy with re-watches of my favorite holiday gift, Billions on DVD! (Shout-out to Mr. Dazzle for knowing exactly what I wanted. I don’t think he even had to read my shopping guide…)

Can you wear out a DVD? I hope not.

In my first couple articles written for the blog, I delved into what the three zones of the body correspond to. For a quick and dirty recap: Mind, Heart, Body (I usually prefer vitality). Mind, your head. Heart, your chest. Vitality? Your pelvis. And within each of these zones, lies mind, heart and body breakdowns of their own. From head to toe, within all of our appendages, as well, macrocosm to microcosm, these three elements are all present. It’s a fascinating study that I hope to learn to teach, myself, one day! Damian Lewis on Stage: Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Damian Lewis is making a wonderful comeback to West End stage in Edward Albee’s late masterpiece The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? at Theatre Royal Haymarket in March 2017! And this gives us a unique opportunity to walk through the memory lane and visit Damian’s stage work in its entirety. It is our pleasure to kick off the festivities today with Damian’s theater education at Guildhall School of Music and Drama! We hope you share and enjoy this journey with us!

Damian discovers theater in his early school days at Ashdown House: His first ever role is a policeman in The Pirates of Penzancea Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. And by age 12, he has good stage experience under his belt with a few low and high moments 😀 Continue reading “Damian Lewis on Stage: Guildhall School of Music and Drama”

Take the M Train to Billions: A Visit to Bobby Axelrod’s Favorite Pizzeria

bobbypizza7

We already published a Billions Season 1 Dining Guide but Capparello’s Pizzeria or real life Rosa’s Pizza has become such a staple in the show that, as we countdown to Season 2, it absolutely deserves a tribute! Bobby Axelrod, as much as he is a man of confidence, seems to feel most comfortable in his skin at Capparello’s echoing that Yonkers boy who wants to “get rich and get even” when he grows up. Every scene at this corner pizza joint reveals a thing or two about Bobby and THIS alone makes a trip to Rosa’s a MUST for me and my partner-in-crime Lewisto. And a comment on the blog from a reader, Alaston, saying “If you DO go to Rosa’s, get the Grandma slice” triggers it that we find ourselves on the M train heading to Rosa’s.

So who folds it better? Bobby or Me?

I propose we start with a virtual trip revisiting the four scenes at Capparello’s highlighting what we learn about Bobby in each one followed by our real trip to Rosa’s Pizza? Continue reading “Take the M Train to Billions: A Visit to Bobby Axelrod’s Favorite Pizzeria”
