Damian Lewis on Fame and Fans

I didn’t know people could get that famous. Just briefly, I felt like Justin Bieber for a second. – Damian Lewis

Damian answers Cara Buckley’s question at Times Talks about whether he misses Homeland which was “obviously a huge pivot” in his career: “I have to say I felt pretty famous after Band of Brothers. I was like ‘well, I am doing alright, this is good, people stop me on the street, pat me on the back, say ‘I love your work Damian’ or they go ‘thank you for winning the second world war, sir!’… you know… as I peel off my tights doing Shakespeare somewhere on stage: ‘thank you, this is awkward…’ so reminding people that I am just an actor… But Homeland… You’re right… I didn’t know people could get that famous. Just briefly, I felt like Justin Bieber for a second… It was a phenemenon, you’re right, it was a phenomenon.”

This little dialogue inspires me to think of the relationship between the actor and his fans! We, as fans, are constantly talking about Damian. We post about him, tweet about him, and some of us even blog about him 🙂 We are pretty much set on what we think about Damian… but what does Damian think about fame and his fans?

Damian Lewis on Ocean’s Eight Set: A Cameo Appearance or What?

Ocean’s Eight, a movie with an all-female cast including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson (rumored) — well, do I need to say more? this is a totally kick-ass bunch — is now being filmed in New York. The movie, in director Gary Ross‘ words, is an “extension and a continuation” of Ocean’s Trilogy and I would say it is likely to make every “highly anticipated movies of the year” list for 2018. No, it is not a typo. Ocean’s Eight is slated to be released in June 2018. Continue reading “Damian Lewis on Ocean’s Eight Set: A Cameo Appearance or What?”

You all know by now Damian Lewis is a proud patron of Sohana Research Fund.

Sohana Collins is a young teenager who was born with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB or EB) which means she lacks the protein that holds her skin together. Kids with EB have extremely fragile skin that they are sometimes called “butterfly children.” Lots of activities we take for granted as easy routines in our daily lives are a struggle for them. Can you imagine a day where your dressing up takes up to two hours and eating and drinking cause blisters in your mouth and throat? These kids have to deal with this kind of pain every single day. Bobby Axelrod and Wendy Rhoades: A Special Relationship – Part II

In case you missed Part I, you can see it here.

Act 3: THE UGLY

It starts with Bobby and Wendy being truly sincere and truly strategic with each other.

BobbyWendyBillionsS1Ep8

Wendy is truly sincere when she rushes to see Bobby as soon as the news story about his shady 9/11 deals breaks and tells him he does not have to be ashamed of anything, at least, in a relativistic sense. Wendy, having seen him at his most vulnerable in those days, does not want to see Bobby crumble and do something that would hurt him and the people around him. Wendy is truly sincere when she asks “Will you come and see me?” at Donnie’s funeral. She knows the answer but she still does ask.

Wendy knows something is not right.  Continue reading “Bobby Axelrod and Wendy Rhoades: A Special Relationship – Part II”
