Hello all! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!
We have found out, thanks to the fantastic stories you have shared with us, that while many “discovered” Damian through his iconic roles like Major Dick Winters in Band of Brothers or Nicholas Brody in Homeland, the others found him through a news quiz show, an interview, or his better half. This week’s story comes from Celian who definitely falls in the latter category.
Celian was first intrigued by Damian thanks to Allie Esiri’s wonderful The Love Book project, a brilliant collection of classic and contemporary love poems that vary from Shakespeare to E.E. Cummings to Maya Angelou coming together in a book as well as in an app. And she could not have sent her story at a better time since this is a perfect story for Valentine’s Day. Massive thanks go to Celian for sharing her fabulous story with us. Cheers!
This post is long overdue. We always hear fans say, and cannot agree with them more, that Damian Lewis can read the phone book and they can listen to him all day. Having said that, why would we have to hear Damian read the phonebook to us as we have much better books out there he could read for us?
YES! Damian narrates Audiobooks! If you have not tried it before, it is a total pleasure to have him read you a story. It feels like the equivalent of CBeebies for adults, highly recommended for bed time but also for anytime, doctor’s orders! And Damian has narrated a good variety of books that it is really easy to pick a favorite.
“Let’s gather as a band of one, in symphony across the land…” Henry Birtles, The Harvest
I would love to take us all today to a special Harvest service, organized by British Food Fortnight to rekindle the tradition of Harvest Festival, at the Westminster Abbey in 2013, an event that Damian Lewis does not only attend with family — as a foodie, I cannot think of anything better than celebrating food with family, no wonder Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! — but also actively participates in the celebrations as well as has a conversation with the Duchess of Cornwall, who is also in attendance, about the whereabouts of one certain Nicholas Brody! 😀 Continue reading “Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at Harvest Festival 2013”
Damian loves and supports poetry and so do we! One poetry project he has actively supported is The Love Book, a brilliant collection of classic and contemporary love poems that vary from Shakespeare to E.E. Cummings to Maya Angelou coming together in a book as well as in an app. And it is my utmost pleasure to take us all back to The Love Book event I was extremely lucky to attend at Cheltenham Literature Festival exactly two years ago: Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory read Great Love Poems.
I have been married for quite some time (20 years in two days!) and my husband and I don’t care much about wedding anniversaries… We somehow feel our wedding day is just the day we “legally” became a couple and what we do is take the day we started dating as THE DAY to celebrate 🙂
So… I am clueless about whether Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory are big on celebrating their wedding anniversary but one thing I know is that even if they are not celebrating, an entire nation is celebrating on behalf of them 🙂
