Today we are taking you back to December 2014 to re-visit Damian when he was Kirsty Young’s Castaway on BBC Radio 4 Desert Island Discs (DID).

Here’s the drill if you are not familiar with the program: The castaway comes having done his homework; with eight pieces of music — one of which he will choose as his favorite — plus a book and a luxury item that he will take to his island with him. You hear the music during the program accompanied with a story from the castaway about why he has chosen this particular piece. Damian Lewis taught a free masterclass in spring 2017 for young actors aged 16 – 30, as part of the Masterclass, the brilliant in-house charity of the Royal Theatre Haymarket for the last 19 years.

Social media was our eyes and ears for the masterclass, and here is a selection of pictures as well as tweets attesting to young actors genuinely enjoying Damian’s class. I am a red head! BUT… Not a real one. I am a fake red head who decided to be one in my mid-30s. So I have only enjoyed the perks of being a red head woman (Ok, I am not Christina Hendricks, but still…) and have never been bullied because of that.

Elvis Presley would have been 90 today. We thought it would be a lot of FUN to celebrate the King’s birthday here and give Elvis a cool birthday present on behalf of a big fan!

That fan is Damian Lewis 😀

Damian was Kirsty Young’s Castaway on Desert Island Discs back in November 2014:
