We got the first hint during the filming of  “Our Kind of Traitor.”

In one of the scenes filmed on the banks of River Thames in London, Damian Lewis was dressed head to toe in Aquascutum.

Damian’s character, Hector Meredith wore the trademark raincoat, had thick rimmed glasses, and the Harrys of London for Aquascutum Julian Kudu Suede Dark Brown Desert Boots.

Coming Soon: Damian Lewis at New Yorker Festival

September 7, 2015 Monday started as a typical morning for me… I got up, checked my email, saw this email from the New Yorker saying their festival line-up was now up, and I said “Ok I will check it when I am back from my morning run”…  Then I was off to my “5 miles of music and planning the day in my mind”… at the end of which I casually checked Twitter… and I saw THIS!

Damian Lewis, An Englishman in New York: 2015 Edition

It’s not a secret I LOVE New York! I moved to the city for my first job in 2001 just a few weeks before September 11, lived that big tragedy, and the strength and the resilience the city showed in the face of the attacks made me LOVE New York first… and the rest is history. My husband and I fell in love with what the city had to offer so much so that when we moved to North Carolina for new jobs after five years, we just didn’t give up on our tiny little apartment and we now spend long weekends and all our breaks in the city, in fact, the only city that I genuinely feel I belong to. Let me put my love for NYC in words this way: If I had not blogged about Damian Lewis, I would have blogged about New York City!

So… Imagine my off-the-charts thrill when I first heard Damian Lewis would make Billions in New York! It’s not just that I love New York and I enjoy everything it offers — from its world-class museums to theater to restaurants to Central Park — but I just LOVE it when people visit and enjoy New York. A Look Back to 10 Weeks of American Buffalo with Damian Lewis, Part II

In case you missed Part I, which is mostly about the actor, the play and the fans, you can read it here.

I, of course, have no idea about how stage actors organize their lives. I just know they work during prime time, that is, they WORK as we go out and eat and watch TV and go to the movies and thereby their routine should be different from us. I also remember Damian commenting on this very thing in the 5 Minutes with Damian Lewis interview:

So, I was really curious if life would sort of stop for our guy during his crazy 10 week long theater run with 8 performances a week — would he just shuttle between home and work?

Some actors may just do that, but not Damian Lewis. He is such an energetic guy that he filled those 10 weeks with a number of extra-curricular activities including one that is said to score 9 out of 10 in terms of stress levels.

Trivia Tuesday… From Dick Winters to Soames Forsyte

One of the top war movies JaniaJania finds in the same league with Band of Brothers in her post on Damian Lewis as Dick Winters a few weeks ago was Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down.

Did you know that Damian Lewis was actually offered a part in Black Hawk Down after his big success as Dick Winters in Band of Brothers but he turned it down for The Forsyte Saga? Continue reading “Trivia Tuesday… From Dick Winters to Soames Forsyte”
