The recent Billions tease “Nothing Speaks Louder than Power” is really something. I mean, it TEASES!
What do you see in this picture? I see two modern day gladiators going at each other big time as millions of viewers are watching them on Showtime and rooting for one or the other šĀ Yes, we are not living in Roman Times, so at least, one does not need to physically die for the other one to survive, but still one’s career probably needs to die for the other one to survive and thrive!
Well, we talked earlier about teams being more or less well-defined on Billions:Ā On one side, we have Team Axelrod led by hedge-fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod along with his wife Lara Axelrod and his right-wing man Mike “Wags” Wagner; and on the other side, we have Team Rhoades led by US Attorney Chuck Rhoades along with his assistant attorney Brian Kennerty and assistant District Attorney Kate Sacher. As we can’t wait for Billions to hit our TV screens on January 17, we have beenĀ thinking, talking and writing left and right on the blog about the show and in particular about Damian Lewis’ new character Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, who, in Damian’s words, is “a prominent, quite well-loved hedge-fund manager over at Axe Capital… He’s a competitive, alpha male, billionaire… But Axe is not ivy-league and damn proud of the money he’s made. He’s not always afraid to show that… But at the same time, he has great generosity, great loyalty, and it’s very muchĀ why he and his wife are in such a partnership…”
This is exactly what we expect from a Damian Lewis character, isn’t it?
