From Homeland to Shakespeare:
Damian Lewis Narrates Audiobooks *UPDATED*

We always hear fans say, and cannot agree with them more, that Damian Lewis can read the phone book and they can listen to him all day. Having said that, why would we have to hear Damian read the phonebook to us as we have much better books out there he could read for us?

YES! Damian narrates Audiobooks! If you have not tried it before, it is a total pleasure to have him read you a story. It feels like the equivalent of CBeebies for adults, highly recommended for bed time but also for anytime, doctor’s orders! And Damian has narrated a good variety of books that it is really easy to pick a favorite.

Shall we? Continue reading “From Homeland to Shakespeare:

Throwback Thursday to Fan Fun Fan Stories Book Landing in Damian Lewis’ Hands

I can’t believe it has been four years since our Fan Fun fan stories turned into a book and landed in Damian Lewis’ hands! Join me in this fun walk through the memory lane!

It all started with a random conversation on the subway.

I am a part-time New Yorker. Lady Trader, on the other hand, is a true New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn, now living on Long Island. The two of us try to meet almost every time I am in the city over some yummy dessert and tea at Veniero’s and chat for a few hours. Then we take the subway together: Lady Trader gets off at Penn Station to take the LIRR home and I continue uptown.

On one of my spring visits in 2016, on a subway ride home, I asked Lady Trader how she “discovered” Damian. When she told me her story, and it was hilarious, I told her she should really write a blog post about it. And as soon as she drafted her story, a NEW idea was born! Wouldn’t it be FUN if we invited all fans to write their own stories about how they became Damian Lewis fans? A Quirky Detective: Nancy’s Dream Role for Damian Lewis

Hi everyone! Damianista here. The screenwriter and casting director we have today is Nancy, who happens to be one of the first Fan Fun followers and one of the few fans who participated in all Fan Fun projects we had in the last seven years! Nancy is not going after a new character for Damian, but instead she dreams that he brings one of his most popular characters to back to life. Can you guess who? 🙂  As I leave the stage to Nancy, huge thanks go to her for sharing her dream role for Damian with us.

Bobby Axelrod in Billions Season 6: Half Time Report

While I am one of the biggest, if not the biggest, fans of Damian Lewis, I am not one of the “No Axelrod, No Billions” viewers. I still watch and enjoy the show – especially detect the differences as well as the similarities between the billionaire who left and the one who took his seat and renamed his company! And, if you are one of the people who stopped watching after Axe left, believe me, Axe may not be present physically in the show now but he is absolutely there in spirit. Axe is a ghost in Season 6.

Since Mike Prince took over Axe Capital, there is an inevitable transition from Axe Capital to Mike Prince Capital. And as Prince warms up to his CEO seat, he constantly reminds other characters in the show – varying  from the State AG Chuck Rhoades to an employee at MPC – that he is different from the previous guy, and moreover, he is a better leader with a superior vision.

Fan Fun Movie of the Month: The Situation

“There is no truth, you know. It’s not about locking up all the bad guys. It doesn’t work like that.” – Dan Murphy

The Situation is the first U.S. feature film that deals with the complexities of the American occupation in Iraq. Written by Wendell Steavenson, a real-life journalist, based on her on-the-ground experiences in war-torn Iraq, and directed by the veteran independent film director Philip Haas (Angels and Insects, anyone?), the movie stars Connie Nielsen, Mido Hamada and John Slattery along with Damian Lewis. The story is exclusively set in Iraq but the movie was shot, for obvious reasons, in Morocco.

So, yes, Homeland is not the first project concerning the war in Iraq that Damian was involved with. There was, in fact, well-meaning CIA intelligent officer Dan Murphy before the US Marine Nicholas Brody. Continue reading “Fan Fun Movie of the Month: The Situation”
