It Happened One Afternoon: Eli’s Story

Hello everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

Today’s fan story comes from a wonderful fan, Eli, living in a city that I am dying to visit at some point: Buenos Aires! She and I, next to being Damian Lewis fans, have more than a bit in common: She is an only child, she is a blogger (please visit Eli’s wonderful blog Eli & Friends here), and she is a runner (certainly a much better one than me), too!

Massive thanks go to Eli for taking the time to share her lovely fan story with us. Here’s to many years of sharing Damian love together! <3 Continue reading “It Happened One Afternoon: Eli’s Story”

Damian Lewis Fandom Has No Borders: Claudette, Florence, Mina, Rakel, and Vincienne’s Stories

Hello everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a NEW Fan Story Tuesday!

We have five short and sweet fan stories today attesting to a wonderful fact we know and love: Damian Lewis fandom has no borders! Claudette is from the US, Florence is from Taiwan, Rakel is from Spain, Mina is from Iran (she was extremely quick to detect my real first name is Persian!) and Vincienne is from Malta. And while they may be from different geographies and cultures they all fell in love with one particular character:

Nicholas Brody.

Without further ado, we give you their lovely stories. Thank you, ladies! Here’s to many more years of sharing Damian love together! Continue reading “Damian Lewis Fandom Has No Borders: Claudette, Florence, Mina, Rakel, and Vincienne’s Stories”

Brody for NotLinda

Writing for a fan blog, you meet a lot of fans. We all know that Damian is one of the rare breed of actor who is able to convincingly straddle multiple genres of storytelling: thriller, romance, shakespearean drama, war drama, the list goes on. Thus he has fans from all over the place too. Lucky to be in a field where constancy is both something you want so folks know what they’re about to get when they see you on screen, as well as something you want to fight against to lesson the risk of pigeonholing yourself in one kind of role. Damian has resisted pigeonholing at every turn.

And, so, we meet Band of Brothers fans, and Forsyte fans, and Homeland fans. Most times we fans intersect over their one intersecting quality: Damian. I met one such true fan recently on my posts about Brody and Carrie’s love story. I’ve always liked the idea of having a sort of call and response in written form, fans interviewing each other, arguing respectfully, like we’re lawyers for the defense of our favorites. And it’s a lovely thing when something comes along to make you think deeper, maybe even change your mind a bit about the stuff you think you know inside and out. NotLinda did that for me, and, I’m happy to say, I for her. We had incredibly rich discussions in the comments sections. So much so that I’m gathering them together into a post or two of their own. For now, you can hear from her first. This is a response she wrote to something I said in one of my “Was it Love” posts. Enjoy!

From Homeland to Shakespeare: Damian Lewis Narrates Audiobooks

This post is long overdue. We always hear fans say, and cannot agree with them more, that Damian Lewis can read the phone book and they can listen to him all day. Having said that, why would we have to hear Damian read the phonebook to us as we have much better books out there he could read for us?

source: Mr. Porter

YES! Damian narrates Audiobooks! If you have not tried it before, it is a total pleasure to have him read you a story. It feels like the equivalent of CBeebies for adults, highly recommended for bed time but also for anytime, doctor’s orders! And Damian has narrated a good variety of books that it is really easy to pick a favorite.

Shall we? Continue reading “From Homeland to Shakespeare: Damian Lewis Narrates Audiobooks”

When they had some time to kill, Brody was there to help: Lina and Breni’s Stories

Hi everyone! Damianista welcomes you to a new Fan Story Tuesday!

We celebrated Homeland’s birthday yesterday and shared with you our own stories about how this show basically changed our lives. And, today, we are bringing you fan stories from two wonderful fans who have joined the fandom earlier this year. Both Lina and Breni, exactly like most of us on this blog, came to the fandom via Homeland, and exactly like us, were mesmerized by Damian’s fantastic portrayal of Nicholas Brody. And the rest is history! We thank them for sharing their lovely stories with us all and for their constant and kind support to Fan Fun. Cheers!
