Wags by the Dozen

Wags’ Words of Wisdom By the Dozen

Wags, played by David Costabile, is my second favorite character on the Showtime hit series Billions–Axe being the first of course. Sure, he’s an acquired taste for some. But folks, I gladly claim Wags as my rapacious scumbag, too! So you better believe I jumped at the chance to write a blog post about Wags’ Words of Wisdom. Back in February of 2017, Showtime released their own Wags’ Words of Wisdom soundbite mashup:

Bobby Axelrod’s Hairstyles – Season 2

Welcome to part 2 of the Axelrod do’s!

Again, let me reiterate by saying I am not a hair stylist. I have no professional training whatsoever. I only know a few hair cut styles to speak of so my analysis is not accurate by any means. This post is meant to be sheer slapstick.

I wrote about Damian’s ginger locks and the evolution of his hair morphing into the Bobby Axelrod character in Billions, Season 1 here. As many fans have pointed out, Bobby’s fashion as well as his hairstyles from season one seem to fit different moments and moods. Yet season two was a little more difficult to differentiate. In fact, Bobby’s hair in season two seemed more streamlined and consistent. And as Holliedazzle pointed out, less hair product in season two makes for a more vibrant red.

So what does Bobby’s hair say about him, his life or his current situation and mood? Or does it? Let’s breakdown Bobby Axelrod’s hair evolution, season two. Continue reading “Bobby Axelrod’s Hairstyles – Season 2”

Bobby Axelrod’s Hairstyles – Season 1

Hello fandom, it’s me Gingersnap, the newest addition to the Fan Fun family. Technically I’ve been around as a fan of the blog and all the wonderful ladies who write for it for quite some time, around the time of Billions’ debut.  And here I am as a fellow blogger. Never saw that coming!

I stumbled upon Fan Fun with Damian Lewis while poking around on Instagram, which led to the blog, which led back to Facebook, which led more and more to Twitter.  Long story short, I have the Fan Fun blog and Damian himself to thank for the revival of my dead Twitter account from 2009. Everyday is a Damian hashtag day on my Twitter!

A little about me: I am a Management Analyst, part-time Adjunct Professor and Computer Software Consultant by day and Damian Lewis aficionado by night. And while you might see my blog posts on here from time to time, I spend most of my time as a contributor over at our sister website damian-lewis.com.  Damianista, Lewisto and I spent countless hours giving the sister site a complete overhaul, a face lift so to speak, from choosing a new design and the right photos for the header, to filling in missing media information for 2+ years. It did not seem like work though because I had so much fun doing it and I love posting the daily/weekly news about our favorite ginger and all he is up to!

Now, on to the blog post… Continue reading “Bobby Axelrod’s Hairstyles – Season 1”

Analyzing the New Billions Season 3 Poster Art and Logo

On Wednesday, January 24, Showtime released new promotional material for Billions season three. Are there spoilers, clues and hints hidden in the poster art and logo? I immediately began scrutinizing the photos for suggestion and significance. I mean, after all, it is instinctive to analyze everything since I have a degree in that field and do it for a living. It’s second nature. When dissecting the details of the promo material, you’ll never guess what I found. So come with me on a deep dive and see if we can come up with an indication of what’s to come.

Let’s start with the logo.

Source: Twitter @SHO_Billions

Ominous, is it not? Dark slate grey background of metal with exposed rivets. Reminds me of a war ship and we know the Billions‘ writers like to reference historical battles and cannon fodder. Is that grey metal iron? In some biblical meanings, natural iron is a symbol of natural, rational truth. Will the truth come out that Wendy violated her contract to warn Chuck about Ice Juice and will Dake discover that she shorted the Ice Juice stock? This scenario is definitely a favorite of mine and my fellow blogger/partner in crime, Damianista, and she talks about it here.  Oh, and I’ll come back to biblical references in a few paragraphs below, even though it seems like it’s out of left field at the moment. Stick with me kid, it will make sense in a bit. Continue reading “Analyzing the New Billions Season 3 Poster Art and Logo”

TOP Damian Lewis Moments 2017: His Voice Can Bring Anything to Life

His voice. That distinguished, recognizable voice. Yes, THAT voice. Whether it’s soothing poetry reads, children’s bedtime stories or a narrated documentary, we know that voice! I’ve often said Damian could sell me a tube of toothpaste should he ever voice a commercial ad, whether Crest, Colgate, Rembrandt – hell, take your pick. And you can bet your last dollar the company stocks would soar soon after the commercial aired…so much so, Bobby Axelrod would be proud.

Many of his U.S. fans think his British accent alone is dreamy, but combine that with his velvety tone, it’s Mozart to anyone’s ears – always with the right amount of inflection, emphasis and dramatic pause. And perfectly modulated to portray emotions of wrath, bewilderment or exhilaration. That is our beloved Damian Lewis.

And in 2017 we saw Damian lent his voice to a few projects, two of which were standouts of the year: Range Rover Velar and George Orwell’s Talking Statue.
