On the Horizon: Wolf Hall – The Mirror and The Light on PBS Masterpiece

“Your Majesty is the only prince. The mirror and the light of other kings.”

Henry repeats the phrase as if cherishing it: the mirror and the light. (Excerpt from The Mirror and The Light)

My Fellow Americans! The long wait is over, well, almost… Wolf Hall: The Mirror and The Light is coming to PBS on March 23, 2025. The episodes will drop weekly. And Lady Trader (or should I say Lady Tudor – since she reads endlessly about The Tudors?) and I can’t wait to do weekly recaps for you!

This post is to get you in the mood already. Here is the official trailer: Continue reading “On the Horizon: Wolf Hall – The Mirror and The Light on PBS Masterpiece”

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory’s Feed NHS

It was exactly five years ago that the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a pandemic, leading to stay-at-home orders and a months-long lockdown across the world. And as most of us stayed home doing not much, two people (and we now know that one of them was quite sick) led an extraordinary fundraising effort for the NHS personnel. Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory, along with their partners, raised more than £1.5 million pounds to provide hot and healthy meals for the NHS staff during the Covid-19 crisis. So why don’t we go back to March 2020 today and re-visit Damian and Helen launching and managing Feed NHS?

Damian Lewis on Mark Rylance

I always talk about what I think about Damian Lewis and the characters he brings to life here. And I think, we have to leave it to Damian, from time to time, to see WHAT he thinks about… well, anything or anyone! And why not start with what Damian thinks about his wonderful Wolf Hall co-star Mark Rylance…

…especially because Damian was a fan of Mark Rylance way before they starred in Wolf Hall together!

When asked about his acting idols at The Hollywood Reporter Drama Actors Interview back in 2012, here is what our favorite actor says…

Throwback Thursday to Damian Lewis at Hoxton Hall

As we can’t wait for Damian to drop a single and make an announcement about his second album,  today’s Throwback Thursday is a fantastic evening at Hoxton Hall in March 2023 with Damian and his brilliant band.

I had a 48-hour lightning trip to London for fun with fan friends and a fantastic evening of music at Hoxton Hall in East End with the one and only Damian Lewis and his fabulous band. And when I asked my blog mate Gingersnap before my trip that whether she thought I was crazy because I am flying to London for 48 hours, I got this response.

“You’re not crazy. But you have a new name. Groupie!”

Seriously, how many times do you need to travel to see a musician in action to qualify as a groupie? 🙂

It was such a magical night and I am ready to tell you all about how our Ginger Elvis has ruled on stage and off – he has made time for everyone, his guests and his fans, after the gig. He had pictures taken, gave autographs as well as bear hugs.

Happy St. David’s Day: Damian Lewis and His Welsh Roots

happystdavidsday

Happy St. David’s Day, everyone!

Today is the Feast Day of St. David, the patron saint of Wales. Thus, in honor of the day, why not talk about Damian and his Welsh roots?

Here is Damian talking about himself as a “Londoner” and “British” at Times Talks London.

So far so good… Damian is proud of his Welsh roots, and we’re talking about Wales today! But… what do I talk about when I talk about Wales? What do I really know about Wales except the fact that Damian is half-Welsh? Well… I can drop a few Welsh celebrity names like a pro…Sir Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Burton, Gareth Bale… and, of course, the wonderful Denise Salway aka the “Knitting Witch” that creates the wonderful “Wolf Hall in Wool” collection and who made, for Damian, a special personalized gift!
